Tenants rights

While renting a place to live, one question you may have is whether or not insurance will cover you if there is an issue. An issue such as a flood could be completely random and bring so much chaos. It is best to be prepared so that you can take on any issue thrown your way.

You may be wondering, does the owner of the building cover anything?

The insurance of the building owner should definitely take care of any issues regarding the structure of the place. This would be for instances regarding the roof, windows, walls, and fixtures.

All tenants should have gotten renters insurance which will take care of any issues within the property. It is for things such as furniture, inventory, and appliances.

It will take time to get your home back to how it was but that is why we are here.

Earthquake plans

7/5/2021 (Permalink)

Safety plan when the ground starts to shake. When an earthquake happens locate a place in each room of the house that you can go to in case of an earthquake also keep flashlights in a nearby accessible place. This spot should be where nothing can fall on you. Remain inside until the shaking stops and you are sure it is safe to exit the building. When it begins to shake take cover under a desk or table and hold on. Stay away from windows in case of them breaking and causing injuries and also stay away from light fixtures.. If you are in bed remain there hold on and protect your head with a pillow. If you are outside, find a clear spot away from buildings, trees, and power lines and drop to the ground. If you are in a car, begin to slow down and locate a safe place never near a tree, or a building that may collapse. Remain in your car until the shaking has stopped.

Fire evacuation plan in place

6/4/2021 (Permalink)

It is important to have a plan in place when unexpected events occur. Safety meetings should be done occasionally to remind everyone about the importance in action needed to stay safe. If you currently do not have an evacuation plan no problem today is the day you can create one. When creating this plan remember to keep everyone’s special needs in mind such as children or elderly depending on your workplace, locate exits or routes such as floor plans and place throughout your building, monthly inspection on fire extinguisher, fire alarms and also keep safety kits stocked up. designate someone who is reliable, present and reacts quickly when having to disseminate information to employees, customers, news, etc. Practicing the evacuation plan helps reduce confusion when and if an emergency occurs.

Keep Your Business Safe & Dry

8/28/2020 (Permalink)

A very important part in keeping your business up and running is to do regular checks of all the plumbing in the office area/work area. A broken or old supply line can do major damage if it isn't noticed immediately.

Many many of our customers have suffered from simply not checking under the sink or behind the refrigerator. They can be found all over the home/office toilets, sinks, water heaters, washing machines.

We often find ourselves recommending to spend that little extra on purchasing the better hoses as the cheaper ones just aren't reliable lasting between 5 to 7 years. If you are reading this and don't remember the last time you checked, now would be a great time to check them over. make sure they are tight, no signs of corrosion or just looking old.

If you experience this type of water loss, please give SERVPRO a call. We will be there immediately to start extracting water and beginning the drying process. We are available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
